Djembe

Enjoyed another class of Djembe today. Djembe drums are originally from West Africa and it is so much fun to play!

Pub crawl or something like that...

Had a fun night yesterday, started with a little doorm party and then tried out the tiny pub here in Tomelilla - a good night over all!

Dr.Jose Chameleone - Owakabi.flv

Feeling more and more tempted to do my fieldstudy in Uganda....just need to figure out what field. Would be fun to do something cultural, maybe the importance of music for young people in Uganda...hmmm..
For now I'll leave you with this catchy tune performed by an Ugandan ragga musician called Chameleone. Enjoy!

KRS One "Sound of Da Police"

Woop woop! Such an awesome old' school tune!

Twiga

Through the Swedish non-profit and non-governmental organization, Twiga you can read more about the Malaria group and their project (see link below). As I mentioned earlier they sell beautiful jewleries made by Masaai women and every penny they get in is worth a lot!
You can also join Twiga and pay a member's fee to support their work.

Maasai

Today a former student came and spoke to us about the Masaai culture - it was really interesting to hear about her 6 months in Maasai land and what her experience was.

Also another girl who had studied here before came and spoke about her Malaria project and the Masaai jewleries they sell to make this project grow and develop.

After this valuable day I have lots of new ideas in my mind about what I'm going to do when I get down there...

Check this link out for more info on the Malaria project:
